WANA (Oct 03) – Seyyed Ahmad Khatami, the Friday prayer leader in Tehran this week, referring to the Supreme Leader’s televised message and the necessity of maintaining a “sacred unity” and uranium enrichment, voiced hardline positions toward the United States and Israel.

Khatami, while stressing the medical, agricultural, and environmental uses of enrichment, said that “telling us not to enrich at all is coercion, and Iran will not accept humiliation.” (That someone or some government would tell us not to enrich at all is coercion, and Iran is not submissive.)

Referring to U.S. pressure to limit Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, he addressed foreign parties: “They say don’t enrich, don’t have long- and medium-range missiles so that if they attack they can plow Iran. These fools don’t know that we will plow Tel Aviv and Haifa.” Khatami framed these remarks as defending the Iranian people’s “refusal to surrender.”

The Friday preacher also cited the Supreme Leader’s comments about the futility of direct negotiations with the U.S., calling them a “complete dead end,” and said: “Death yes, humiliation never.”

On activating the “snapback” and trigger mechanism, Khatami insisted that the U.S. and its allies have, over decades, failed to be as effective as they claim, and that by activating this mechanism “they can do nothing.”

He went on to strongly criticize the plan put forward by Donald Trump regarding Palestine, calling it “a policy aimed at the permanent humiliation of the Palestinians,” and praised the response of some delegations who walked out during speeches by international officials. Khatami also condemned certain so-called Islamic institutions and groups that attended the same meeting, saying that sitting in that session was “against the Quran and the Prophet.”

Referring to the atrocities in Gaza over the past two years, the interim Friday prayer leader expressed sorrow for the large number of women and children killed and criticized international unions and bodies for what he called their inaction. He emphasized that the resistance, born of current conditions, has “breathed new life” into the Palestinian cause and voiced support for the continuation of that resistance.

Khatami concluded by pointing to the movement of the “Samoud Fleet” as a symbol of “global resilience,” and criticized the United Nations, likening it to “the organization of America and Israel.”
