My partner is an immigrant and we live in East Belfast. She got an absolute grilling from a taxi driver the other night asking where she’s from, where I’m from (Belfast didn’t suffice, he wanted to know exactly what area in Belfast), then decided to give her a speech about why immigration is inherently bad. But she is ok, because she’s white European.

I lived in lisburn until 1988. I remember coming back one time possibly late 90s or 2000s, and there was a big sign up saying “welcome to protestant lisburn”, which I thought was a bit odd because a quarter of the population of that town is Catholic.
I dont want to say you get used to hate, but eventually you get used to hate! Ignore it and find people who appreciate you.
