WALB is working to produce a video for this story. In the meantime, we encourage you to watch our livestream.

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) – The City of Thomasville will join communities nationwide in celebrating ‘Public Power Week, Public Natural Gas Week, and Customer Service Week’ from October 5–11.

The week-long observance will highlight the value of locally owned utilities and recognize the dedicated employees who provide essential services every day.

Public Natural Gas Week is held annually to raise awareness about the benefits of publicly owned natural gas utilities, which serve about 1,000 communities across the U.S. Officials say public ownership helps provide residents with clean, affordable, and efficient energy.

Public Power Week recognizes electric utility companies that serve nearly 40 million Americans, emphasizing their shared mission to deliver reliable and accessible electricity to their communities.

In addition, the City of Thomasville will observe Customer Service Week, honoring both staff and customers. From Monday, Oct. 6 through Friday, Oct. 10, community members are invited to stop by the Administration Building at 111 Victoria Place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to meet customer service staff, enjoy giveaways, and enter raffles for a chance to win up to $100 off a City of Thomasville Utilities bill.

City leaders encourage residents to follow the City of Thomasville Facebook page for photos and updates throughout the week. For more information on city services, visit Thomasville.org or call 229-227-7001.
