Power Outages and Drone Strike Kill French Journalist in Donetsk Region

October 4 – the 1319th day of Russia’s full-scale confrontation against Ukraine. In Donetsk region, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, and some districts of Kramatorsk were left without electricity due to new shelling by Russian forces.

According to energy sector officials, infrastructure damage led to temporary power outages in several towns of the region. Power supply restoration is planned after assessment of the situation on the ground, but full restoration will depend on the evolution of fighting on the front.

In Druzhkivka, during the latest FPV drone strike, French journalist Antoni Lallikan was killed, his colleague Ukrainian journalist Hryhoriy Ivanchenko was wounded.

Law enforcement authorities have opened criminal proceedings under Articles 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, “Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer,” and Article 194, “Deliberate destruction or damage to property.” At the same time, authorities urge residents to follow safety measures and monitor official notices during air-raid alerts.

The electricity supply situation remains unstable: energy workers are working on restoration, but the duration of restoration will depend on the further development of the front-line situation.
