Democrats in Washington say they won’t vote for the Republican plan to avoid a government shutdown because they’re worried about the end of Affordable Care Act subsidies set to expire at the end of the year. Those notifications are going out to consumers now.

The subsidies are popular with both Democrats and Republicans.

According to a new KFF Health Tracking Poll, 59% of Republicans favor extending the subsidies, which is more than three times the share (22%) who say they want Congress to let the tax credits expire.
