It's a plastic pipe. It is crooked and broken.

Is it for media/internet cables? If so, can I pass optical fiber cable there? The last time the Internet worker drilled my wall.

  1. One pipe is for water going up, the second one is for water coming back down, and the third is for water going sideways.

  2. This is for filling the system – this pipe is probbably from overfill/“signalling tube” on tank at the top of the apartments – when water reaches bottom ot the tank it spills from this pipe in the basement, signaling that the whole system is filled with water. That was used when the was an “open” type heating system – when pressure tanks were not common and there were no automatic air valves for venting the system at the top of the building.

  3. No clue.

But do not replace this radiator with anything new (unless it is another, solid radiator that costs few thousands of PLN).

    You can simply descale them.

  4. The first rule of Third Pipe Club is: You do not talk about Third Pipe.

  5. Beer. You can upgrade it to vodka but only if all owners in your vertical line of apartments agree.

  6. That’s the knocking pipe. You grab a wrench and walk it to let everyone know that you’re home

  7. I read ‘what is this bird type’ and I spent an embarrassingly long time trying to find the bird in the picture. I might need a rest.

  8. Maybe it’s an old gas pipe? Weird placement but in 50 yo ‘blok’ everything is possible.

  9. You wrote that the pipe is cracked. If there’s a hole and you see a thin black cable inside, and there’s a tall, old mast on the roof of your building, it’s possible it’s a remnant of an AZART collective television installation. I’ve encountered situations where these pipes were on the surface instead of in the wall, right next to the heating pipes.
