Residents between Northwest Seventh Street and Northwest Third Street Place on Northwest Morningside Drive were told to evacuate the area, the sheriff’s office said, calling it a major gas leak.”Natural gas leaks any time are very serious. It’s unpredictable. It’s an odorless gas. We are happy they called us as soon as they did. We got the situation under control,” said Lt. Mark Chance with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
