PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF) — A man is in custody as deputies investigate a shooting.
According to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, Mark Bowman was arrested on Tuesday after deputies received reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of Finland Drive.
Bowman is facing one count of Felonious Assault with firearm specifications, a second-degree felony.
As previously reported, crews were called to the area around 8:30 p.m.
When they arrived, it was discovered that a person was suffering from a gunshot wound in their torso, deputies said. After the shooting, the victim ran to a neighbor’s house for aid.
In relation to the incident, the sheriff’s office received two calls, one from Bowman and the other from the victim.
The 911 calls revealed that the victim was Bowman’s godson and that the shooting occurred after a physical altercation between the men.
The audio revealed that Bowman “put hands on” the victim, leading him to defend himself but punching Bowman in the face. After punches were thrown, that is when deputies say shots were fired.
The investigation remains ongoing.
