TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Prince of Peace Lutheran Church served up food and fun at its fifth annual Oktoberfest.
The event was on Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and brought out many community members.
Coordinator Maggie Correno said the event has seen much growth, and organizers hope to see more.
“We’ll have magic next year,” Correno said. “My gosh, it’s just, you know, and the community’s getting used to it, and so they bring their friends and family as well.”
This was the first year Oktoberfest had live music.
With several different local vendors, face painting, and a kids’ area, there was something for everyone.
Correno shared her favorite part of Oktoberfest is talking with all the people who attend and seeing the interactions.
“It’s just fun watching everybody just have a great time,” Correno said.
Of course, German food was being served up at the event.
“The bierocks are the best, that’s why I came,” one participant said.
While the heat wasn’t typical October weather, some said it could not have been better.
With Oktoberfest over, Halloween is another day closer.
