October the 4th, 2025 – The plans for the House of the famous (and beloved) Drniš prosciutto (pršut) are set to be realised, paying rightful homage to this much loved product of the Dalmatian hinterland.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the construction of the House of Drniš Prosciutto should finally begin next year. Plenty of support for the construction of this ode to a Dalmatian speciality was also announced recently by the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Tonči Glavina.
“Drniš prosciutto is already recognised as a top gastronomic delicacy and is world-class in terms of its quality. However, we do need to make another big step forward, and that is its stronger branding and positioning, so that it is talked about across the world in the same way as prosciutto from some other countries is talked about. Therefore, we’re going to be fully supporting this event, as well as similar events that can help in further positioning the wine and gastronomy industry. We’ll also support the construction of the House of Drniš Prosciutto. Its opening will be an additional motive for guests to come and visit this region and the Dalmatian hinterland throughout the entire year,” said Minister Glavina.

The Mayor of Drniš, Tomislav Dželalija, also explained that the project for the the House of Drniš Prosciutto includes a prosciutto tasting room and an exhibition area that will present the history of the product and how all stages involved in its lengthy production take place.
“For us, the people of Drniš, this prosciutto is the strongest brand and we proudly bear the title of the Town of Prosciutto. By promoting locally made prosciutto through events such as the 8th International Prosciutto Festival – Drniš 2025, we’re promoting a whole century of knowledge, dedication and – what is perhaps most important – love for everything that is local and our own,” said the mayor.
As this is a fairly old idea, some preliminary work has already been carried out. The location, namely the building located in the very heart of Drniš, has been decided on. Now, a new step in the realisation of this project has been enabled, and this is the preparation of all of the necessary documentation. The people of Drniš believe that it will be an interesting interpretation centre that showcases the entire prosciutto production procedure, while also being a location where it will be possible to come and purchase authentic domestic prosciutto.
