Thanks to joint efforts with the Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization, Zurab Pololikashvili, Bulgaria has accepted the responsibility of hosting one of the largest and most important conferences in world tourism, Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh said during the 9th UN Tourism Global Conference on Wine Tourism in Plovdiv on Monday. “Just as grapes are gradually built up to become good wine, so too have our two teams managed to organize this conference,” he noted.
Borshosh thanked the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy Chair Yordanka Fandakova for participating in the conference, as wine tourism will always be part of Bulgaria’s foreign policy.
He also thanked Agriculture and Food Minister Georgi Tahov for joining the forum. “Although we are engaged in different things, as you are trying to export the wine, while I am trying to import people so that they can taste it, we work together and it is impressive when all state institutions are looking in the same direction,” Borshosh emphasized.
Borshosh expressed gratitude to BTA and especially to BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, for what he did for the wine tourism campaign in recent months.
The 9th UN Tourism Global Conference on Wine Tourism is themed “The Art of Wine Tourism”. It takes place on October 6 and 7, and highlights the multi-faceted relationship between wine tourism and the arts, positioning both as vital tools for protecting heritage, promoting creativity and enhancing the attractiveness of rural and wine-producing destinations. Participants engage with policy makers, representatives of tourist destinations, entrepreneurs, researchers and specialists from around the world.
