EU and Morocco agree to extend preferential tariff treatment to Western Sahara – EU Law Live

The European Union and the Kingdom of Morocco have reached an agreement to extend preferential tariff treatment to products originating from the territory of Western Sahara. The arrangement, which provisionally applies as of 3 October 2025, aims to ensure continuity and legal certainty for economic operators and traders.

Under the agreement, proofs of origin and product labelling must indicate the region of production, specifically Dakhla and Laayoune, thereby ensuring transparency and traceability. The preferential advantages under the EU–Morocco Association Agreement will be extended to the beneficiaries concerned.
