WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump made a post on TikTok for the first time in over a year on Monday.

“To all of those young people of TikTok, I saved TikTok, so you owe me big,” Trump said in the post. “And now you’re looking at me in the Oval Office and you’re going to be doing a great job also.”

Vice President J.D. Vance also posted on the platform, announcing the relaunch of his TikTok page, which will feature political updates and a few “sombrero memes.” Vance, who is not shy to post a meme, may be referencing Trump posting an artificially generated video of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wearing a sombrero.

“I got a little lazy the last few months was focused on the job of being VP and not on TikTok,” Vance said in the video.

The return of the president to TikTok comes after he signed an executive order that brings the app under majority U.S. ownership, which allows it to continue to operate in the U.S.

In the new deal, Oracle will have a copy of the TikTok algorithm and oversee the security operations of the social media app.

However, ByteDance remains a stakeholder in the new venture, although they are expected to be included with less than 20%.

Both U.S. and Chinese officials have signaled they are aligned on the deal and Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to the new ownership.
