  1. The easiest way to do this is to implement a land value tax. Unlike other taxes, [the cost of the land value tax can’t be passed down to tenants](https://gameofrent.com/content/can-lvt-be-passed-on-to-tenants), and it’s naturally progressive since A. the richest people also own the most land, and B. the supply of land is inelastic, making it a fixed asset. You can’t create or destroy land on the fly for the purpose of avoiding taxes the way you can with other assets, so just tax the unimproved value of land

  2. I believe in liberal economics, or at least its fundamentals. Its very important for people to own their own property (and land).

I find State controlled land to just end up becoming akin to Feifdom control almost immediately.

Saying that it is true that over time private capital accomplishes basically that same thing. People always seem to try and turn economics back to kings and queens over time, its so frustrating.

I would like to see good solutions that both protect people’s right to autonomy and freedom while preventing this sort pf problem. Im sure economists and philosophers have good responses, but so often online I see people just jump onto communisms state own land.

I wish people would read animal farm to help understand what happened to many communist countries, even ones created in good faith. Ultimately communism great flaw is its anti democracy, rather than anti capitalist. All though it’s critique of capitalism is on point. However that doesn’t make communism a good alternative to what it actually ends up replacing.

  3. > In England, 19% of all households live in privately rented properties according to the latest government figures, making it the second largest type of housing. In Wales, the latest available figure is 17%.

Wow that does not seem bad at all. I was expecting this to be like 80% or something stupid to get this kind of attention. Why this why now?

  4. Private landlords have a legitimate place any housing market. Trying to abolish them is short sighted.

What there should be is a limit to the number of properties an individual or company can own in total + within a radius.
