im quite sick of this. i live in Wales & the church was always part of the schools system. It was also a part of education to see other religions. We went to mosque, sikh temple & synagogues. Nobody complained & noone was brainwashed. Insanity
Whys this an issue but not Christianity being pushed in RE lessons. I dont support either but this is a massive double standard considering one is far more common place than the other and doesn’t get complained about.
These people are just looking for offence at this point. Also the parents should grow up. If they are actively involved in their kids life in a good way, the kid isn’t going to randomly convert to a different religion one day without them knowing.

We were taught about Sikhs, Muslims, Jews and Christians in our RE classes when I grew up in Wales. We were still forced to pray every morning, sing Christian hymns, attend chapel and all the other bullshit religious indoctrination Yaxley-Lennon is complaining about.

I remember RE lessons as a kid: we had the local CoW vicar come in, the local Catholic priest, the local Methodist bugail, the nearest Imam, a nearby Lama, and the closest Rabbi all troll in and have a chat. We would have had a Hindu and a Sikh rep in, but there was nobody near enough willing to come to our primary school. None of them tried any proselytism. Tommy Ten Names can fuck off.

My kids have had Christianity forced down their throats every day since reception because the UK still allows the church to run schools and there’s no other option. In twenty-fucking-twent-five.
I had an imam talk to my RE class about Islam back in 2007 in rural Herefordshire, nothing new and I can guarantee the ‘ you will be Muslim In a few years ” line is as real as Tommy Robinson using his gullible cults donations for anything other than cocaine

RE (Religious Education (that’s what it was called when I was in school)) is there so we can all learn about different religions and peoples around the world, I was taught the Islamic pillars in junior school from a white catholic lady.. It’s suppose to educate our kids.. provide some form of understanding to our children when obviously adults can’t understand it.
I remember once a kid coming in with his dad and his dad saying something like it’s unacceptable that his child is learning about a religion that’s not about Jesus, the kid was made to do maths in a room on his own.
We’re living in a time where people like ‘Tommy’ gain traction over shit like this because a large proportion/demographic of the people he’s preaching to come from disadvantaged backgrounds, suffer from mental and/or substance abuse problems, low income areas and so it’s easy to blame someone you can’t even fucking see.
The whole “parents made to feel ‘racist’ for speaking out!” is a victim thing, he’s been banging on with that for ages, how the fuck can a child that’s being severely targeted by the community now (thanks to Tommy) pose any threat?

The councilor in question was forced to resign as a Tory MP candidate because she was caught saying people on benefits should be put down.
I wonder if she repeated those comments to the parents in the meeting, who mostly live in social housing the most deprived area of Swansea

Things are getting really bad. I work with scientists and clinicians. I wouldn’t say I’m visibly Muslim but you can tell I’m not ethnically English.
Someone tried to attack me on Monday whilst I was on a site visit.

Im a parent in the school and I wanted to try and explain what’s been going on.
There are a group of parents in the school that have been complaining every time Islam is mentioned. One talking point in these posts has been how their child got marked down for not spelling Mosque correctly. Every time Islam is taught in RE they go to the office and kick off.
Then last week someone from Sketty Mosque visited the school and did an assembly on Islam to the whole school.
The group of parents went nuts. Came to the office and had an argument with the head teacher. The head teacher apparently called them racist. Police were called to talk to the head teacher.
They then came up with a list of things that their children told them about the assembly:
They sang songs about loving Allah.
they were told they all be Muslim by year 6.
they were forced to sit on prayer mats.
that Allah is their God.
they have to fast.
We have all asked our kids about this, of course. And its been denied by every child asked. Outside of this small group of parents that are complaining
They then wrote letters for each parent to give to the school demanding their child be removed from RE whenever Islamic or “non British” values are taught.
Voice Of Wales then got involved and organised a meeting with llthe parents and a “local” (Mumbles) Reform Councillor to have a meeting about the “unbalanced religious studies” in the school. And its blown up from there. VOW did a 10 minute video of all lies calling it a Christian school (its not). GBNews jumped on it last night. Tommy Robinson today.
Outside of the small group of parents, everyone else feels pretty scared and like the school is now a target. Heard rumours in the yard today about people wanting to move their kids out of the school to avoid trouble with the far right.
Teachers have been visibly upset as their names have been dragged through every comment section. And lord knows how the many Muslim familes in the school must feel. A really bad situation there right now. With many hoping it all blows over soon, but it really doesn’t feel like it.

There’s not an ounce of truth left in the world is there :,( It kills me hearing my family are all voting for reform in the next election and no amount of truth, conversation or facts will change theirs minds. I always knew politics and life was corrupt but it’s getting to the point I’ve almost given up. It’s sad, pathetic and shows society is being broken down one step at a time.
