  1. The only essential unknown is at what warming level will we breach some cascading tipping points that will initiate feedbacks leading to accelerating warming uncoupled from our own emissions, then leading to civilizational and planetary collapse.

    It may be that 1.5C is already too warm to prevent the arctic permafrost melt, the AMOC collapse, breadbasket failures, the functional extinction of coral reefs, the upwelling in the Southern Ocean, Greenland ice sheet melt, maybe even the amazon dieback.
