  1. Because he’s all talk. His actions speak louder than his words.

He’s Reagan in a Clinton suit, and we are all worse for it.

  2. Carney’s inaction is what Canadians wanted. Because the linked article mentions the carbon tax:

*With the swipe of a sharpie, Prime Minister Mark Carney reduced the price of the consumer carbon tax rate to zero, meaning Canadians will no longer be paying it on fuels. In doing so, he also* ***neutralized one of the Liberals’ most unpopular policies*** *before a widely expected election call*.

The EV mandate? Canada is only at 17%, slightly under the global average of 20% (which is greatly influenced by China’s high adoption rate in the largest car market in the world), so Canadians pretty clearly still want ICE vehicles.

Canadians are no different than most/all of the wealthy, high-emitting countries: “I want climate action, as long as it doesn’t change my lifestyle.”

  3. Because he’s pandering to the right, who don’t believe in it or don’t care to do anything about it, as well as the left, who have been trying to raise awareness for decades.

  4. He is just being pragmatic. Climate change is the last thing on the vast majority of people’s minds when they’re facing an existential economic threat. Climate fanatics are too deep in their own leftist echo chamber to realize this.

  5. Climate leftists: We need to go full throttle, and any politician who disagrees is a charlatan!

<loses election, climate policies are even worse>

Climate leftists: At least we were ideologically consistent

  6. He’s walking a fine line, the LNG deals are the best with what hand he was dealt. I don’t see anymore pipe lines being built, he knows oil for energy is on it’s way out, it doesn’t take a genius to see the world turning towards renewables faster every year but he needs to placate the conservatives.

The E.V. mandates and not gone just delayed and the auto industry needs to change or die, I would like to see Chinas E.V,s available in Canada, if other auto makers can’t compete then let them die no bail outs.

Time will tell how much he’s going to invest in renewables and recycling which is where the new money is.

Unfortunately he was handed a tough hand with Trump being an idiot but the next few months will tell if his meeting with other world leaders will bring investments and trade deals to Canada that bypass the U.S.

  7. Because politics involves lobbying and voters in Alberta. So yeah we’ll continue to pollute the planet, get more flooding, droughts, hurricanes. But bankers will make their bonuses.

  8. I emailed my MP about this after the EV mandates were lifted. His assistant asked for my phone number so he could call me and chat about it. Been waiting for that call for a while now…

  9. Rich people have never been willing to acknowledge the hard limits of objective reality.
