The Finnish national team defeated its guest, Lithuania, 2-1, on Thursday, in the seventh round of European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Finland, which maintained its hopes of qualifying for the world finals with its third victory, raised its score to 10 points, level with the Netherlands from four matches, which will visit Malta later, and second-place Poland from five matches.

The Finnish national team will travel to Amsterdam on Sunday to face the Netherlands, while Poland will visit Lithuania.

Only the top team in the group will secure direct qualification for the finals, scheduled for next summer in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, while the second-place team will enter a playoff.
