Oh my… these are becoming more frequent.
It was a bad one here in Davao. Prolonged quake and very strong. Stay safe everyone.
That magnitude is intense! It’s larger than the most recent one.
“It said the quake happened at a depth of 10 km (6 miles)”….Another low depth quake.
The Philippine seismology chief Teresito Bacolcol said his agency would issue a tsunami warning after the quake, which struck about 20 kilometres away from the town of Manay at 9:43am local time (11:43am AEST).
One-metre waves were forecast on the country’s Pacific coast over the next two hours, the Philippine seismology office said. It also urged residents in coastal areas in the affected zone “to immediately evacuate to higher grounds or move farther inland”. There were no immediate reports of damage.
The United States Tsunami Warning System also issued a tsunami threat, saying hazardous waves were possible for coasts within 300km of the quake’s epicentre. In the half-hour after the initial quake, the USGA also recorded multiple aftershocks in a similar location, including tremors of magnitudes ranging between 5.6 and 6.0.
First in Cebu, now in Mindanao
Earthquakes are getting more frequent
I remember years ago a large high rise motel in Davao I stayed at had a type of shock absorbing/moving foundation for just such an emergency.
Again?? There was another huge one last week.
A lot of earthquakes recently 👀
Family members in Cebu felt this one as well. We pray for the people in the Philippines that are going through such tragic times. In desperate need of water, prepared food and places to stay. Remember we are all humans. We are no different than any other. Be respectful to each other. We all have friends, family members and loved ones in the Philippines. Let’s keep them in our prayers and hope for the best outcome in all this.
Seems like the Sunda plate is deciding to pop off today…
A 6.3 mag. earthquake just happened near Papua New Guinea and it follows the curvature of the plate.
This the 3rd Earthquake bruh
I’m so worried for my friends in Marikina because of the recent earthquakes.
According to the [USGS](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/?currentFeatureId=us6000rg08&extent=6.68643,126.19858&extent=7.45779,127.4469) there have been (so far) 7 aftershocks ranging from 5.9 to 4.8.
Stay safe!
Longest quake i have experienced to date, actually scary this time. Very disorientated afterwards during the aftershocks
Cebu, now, Davao. Please, hopefully this does not in any way affect the fault line in Manila.
Ah yes. We were asking for more water. 70 days of rain just isn’t enough.
Damn. Super typhoon, then 6.5 quake, another typhoon then 7.5 quake. All in a span of 1 month or so?
