Trump misses out on Nobel Peace Prize despite claiming to have ended seven wars

1. Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the 2025 [Nobel Peace Prize](https://inews.co.uk/topic/nobel-prize?ico=in-line_link), clinching the accolade ahead of hundreds of nominees including US President [Donald Trump](https://inews.co.uk/topic/donald-trump?ico=in-line_link).

   The five-strong Norwegian Nobel Committee announced this year’s recipient of the prestigious honour on Friday, with Machado emerging at the top of a field of 338 nominees.

   She beat 338 other candidates – 244 individuals and 94 organisations – who had been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year.

   Trump, who was seeking to become the fourth American president to win the Nobel Peace Prize, has been [increasingly vocal](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/how-trump-could-win-nobel-peace-prize-3962654?ico=in-line_link) during his second term about his desire for recognition over [brokering an Israel-Gaza peace deal](https://inews.co.uk/news/trump-gaza-peace-plan-work-netanyahu-must-go-3965307?ico=in-line_link) and efforts to secure an end to the [Russia-Ukraine war](https://inews.co.uk/topic/russia-ukraine-war?ico=in-line_link).

   During a meeting with Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in February, Trump said: “They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me.”

   He has suggested on several times that he has been instrumental in stopping multiple wars.

   “In a period of just seven months, I have ended seven ‘un-endable’ wars,” he claimed during his address to the United Nations General Assembly last month. “No president or prime minister — and for that matter, no other country — has ever done anything close to that.”

   Trump was nominated for the prize by several politicians, including Benjamin Netanyahu and Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet.

   Netanyahu nominated Trump in July after Trump claimed credit for stopping the war with Iran in June.

   even this ceasefire he allegedly brokered in gaza isn’t enough. a ceasefire is not peace.

10. I didn’t realize – until now – that “Either you sign this, or I will choke your children to death” was a Nobel-worthy approach.

16. Your achievements should be measured vs. the terrible things you do. I don’t think the damage Trump has done to peace in the United States and between the US and its allies, and to overall international discourse between nations would be outweighed by anything he’s done short of permanently ending Israel-related conflict in the region. Can you really give a PEACE prize to one of this eras greatest hatemongers, even if they strongarm some diplomatic agreements? Genuine question.

17. He’ll never receive a Peace Prize. Trump’s intentions and motives are purely selfish and any deal he attempts will always benefit himself. Which isn’t exactly a noble action to do.

18. For everything that is good in this world, do not let Trump yoink the Peace Prize in 2026. He has *not* ended seven wars, he hasn’t done anything to promote peace and that number has been heavily reduced by fact checkers but he still goes with it. Now eight I guess with his and Bibi’s deal. Jesus.

19. I’d like to see him win the “piece” of cheeseburger lodged in throat prize, post mortem.
