October the 11th, 2025 – Close to 500,000 German tourists visited Croatia during the month of September this year, directly countering previous worries about a lack of German interest.

As Sinisa Malus/Poslovni Dnevnik writes, multiple encouraging indications of a very good tourist season for summer 2025 have been confirmed. In September, 2.5 million tourists visiting Croatia recorded 13.8 million overnight stays, which is five percent more tourists and overnight stays than in September last year.

Impressive growth was also achieved in the entire first nine months of this year, of two percent in arrivals and one percent in overnight stays, according to new data released by the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ). A total of 19.7 million tourist arrivals were registered across Croatia, which is two percent more than in the same period last year, and almost 104 million overnight stays, or one percent more, were also recorded.

17.1 million foreign tourists, or one percent more than in the first nine months of last year, were registered nationwide. Growth of that exact same amount was also achieved with 91.3 million overnight stays registered. In addition to the foreign arrivals, there were eight percent more domestic tourists registered, or 2.6 million of them, who recorded 12.4 million overnight stays, or three percent more compared to 2024.

In September, foreign tourists rather naturally accounted for the majority of registered physical tourist traffic across the country, or 92 percent of all arrivals (2.3 million of them). They were also responsible for a whopping 91 percent of all overnight stays, or 12.3 million, which is five percent more than in September 2024.

There were 12 percent more domestic tourists, or 267,000 of them in September, and with 1.3 million overnight stays, they achieved an increase of one percent. This placed other Croats in second place among all nations that visited Croatia in September, but the always loyal Germans came out on top.

Almost half a million German tourists were recorded across Croatia during the month of September this year. Their total sum stood at 488.2 thousand, and they achieved 3.9 million overnight stays in total. Both of the aforementioned figures represent very significant increases of 8.4 and 13.1 percent compared to September last year.
