An experimental project, that automatically maps the relationship networks of Chinese Elites by parsing public Wikipedia data using LLMs and cross-referencing with official sources.
I used Chinese wiki for this project, so there isn't a English version yet. However, I'm currently planning to write a "global" version with English wiki. Shouldn't be difficult.

i mean, i cant read this at all so it isnt beautiful data but the reason this is an interesting and worthwhile project is to understand how the party is connected to howeveryou define “elite”, to give transparency to any corruption, and to see where and how the money goes
it could be a really interesting window into a totalitarian society
Seeing as 90% of this website’s users can’t read Chinese, I fail to see what’s beautiful about this.
Very cool, well done. I hope you see the practical use of this, and continue to expand and deepen this project. There is great potential.
Given the amount of data, I would not use the map to ‘explore’, and only use the searches to find specific information. So I would prefer the option to skip loading the map on entry.
I would find it helpful if after search, I had the option to hide all non-relevant items up to 1 step, you could even make that customisable, so that more relevant bubbles can fit on screen at the same time. Also may improve performance. Even Google doesn’t try to display all marginally-relevant results on the same screen.
I’d also find it helpful if the description of a bubble or relationship gave a link to the reference source. In particular, some descriptions are 根据传媒报道, and I’m not sure if you’ve scraped the 传媒报道 (for which I would be very impressed), or just based on the wiki.
This is very neat. And making the background black makes it look like a galaxy, so points on the presentation. Thanks for sharing it in GitHub
Am I in there? Can’t read Chinese, so just wanna make sure…
