A classic PIGS moment. During my mandatory military service, I saw this phenomenon again and again with the Ticino people (Italian speaking Swiss).
German- and French-speaking Swiss need a plan, organization, and certain leadership. While Italian-speaking Swiss screw everything up if you try to organize them. It works best if you just let them do their thing. Because when it comes down to it (e.g., if they get the chance to get home earlier), they deliver top-tier performance; you just can’t force it.
