“senior researcher Andrei Anisimov said the Uran-9 was “not capable of performing the assigned tasks,” citing repeated loss of control, a severely limited effective control range in urban terrain, and weapons that could not be fired on the move.
External assessments were similarly critical. In a review of Russia’s UGV programs, BAE Systems’ analysis noted the Uran-9 was “unreliable,” adding that its thermal and electro-optical sensors “were useless while the Uran-9 was moving due to a lack of stabilization,” with “significant delays” when executing fire commands—deficiencies that render the system ineffective in dynamic combat.”
Pour one out for Andrei Anisimov, he is not long for this world.
Hopefully this thing keeps breaking down and wasting time and resources.
This shows how much of Russia’s so called “advanced military tech” is more of propaganda than performance. If the Uran-9 can’t even function before combat, imagine the state of their defense systems
Imagine my surprise!!
>Uran-9 “Robot Tank”
Pronounced urine… and has the piss poor performance to go along with the name?
It’s Urine-9
Remember when T14 Armata was supposed to just delete western tanks from 10km? Or SU-75, so stealthy that it does not exist?
The prdecessor model version was a piss take
These were deployed for testing in Syria back in 2018-ish and had the exact same issues the article describes.
No idea what the contractors were doing with this thing over the last 7 years or so, but fixing it obviously wasn’t on the list…
Uran-9, the only tank whose main weapon is embarrassment
No Bolo.
In a country that boasts how they have nearly unlimited manpower and don’t give a shit about the people they send into combat, it’s weird to see them putting money into unmanned tank.
Haha autocorrect tried to turn that into unarmed tank. Even my phone is getting in on the Russian roasting.
Reminds me of that ‘chess playing robot’ that really was just an assembly line robot arm from a car factory that then broke a child’s hand during a game.
Entire development team falls to their death out of window.
Plan B Dmitry, another 10k north Koreans for rice and potatoes
Hesgeth is about to buy them to please vladdy daddy. Gonna rename them the uran-us
All these coverup and deceiving posts doesnt help matter….
As you are posting this; Russians are gaining more grounds now at a faster pace more than before. Lets stop fulling ourselves; this war is in no way favouring Ukraine. Millions has died and your here playing checkers with words
Russia’s military feels like a Three Stooges sketch
again some pockets got filled
I think this has many signs of corruption and being asked to do the impossible. The impossible in tems of time frames, financing, material in the scope of sanctions, expertise in terms of the sheer cost of war…
What _is_ there though, is doing as Putin is ordering and shifting the blame when it cannot come together like a hot potato.
We too have had early mishaps with complex war machinery in our country’s history. It’s normal and part of the trials. But this doesn’t sound like a child’s disease issue, but something that was never going to work to begin with:
> Initial trials produced unusually candid assessments from within Russia’s own defense establishment. Presenting findings from the Defense Ministry’s 3rd Central Research Institute at a 2018 conference in St. Petersburg, senior researcher Andrei Anisimov said the Uran-9 was “not capable of performing the assigned tasks,” citing repeated loss of control, a severely limited effective control range in urban terrain, and weapons that could not be fired on the move.

This sounds more like lofty goals never had a foundation in reality.
The irony is that this is what they don’t want to hear, when it’s honestly what they need to hear, even from the perspective of their own war. Being up front and honest, and listening to these men, would help them guide their war machine to more pragmatic strategies that work. But luckily, this isn’t who Mother Russia is. No, Mother Russia is one who abandons her young.
What!? Do you mean to tell me that a piece of ruzzian technology that was hyped up to the 9’s by their propaganda machine as some form of futuristic wonder weapon was, in effect, a massive and ineffective waste of money!?
This has never happened before, ever. Especialy bot with the T14 and the SU57
I’m told the correct way to pronounce 9 in russ is “arse”.
Was it called Joker?
‘Russian officers then accused the tank of cowardice and shot it in the back.’
I still find it funny how many times this has happened with Russian equipment and such, but people are still acting like their nuclear arsenal which requires frequent EXPENSIVE maintenance, specialized skills, and certain parts they can’t produce in Russia are 100% in working order and we are supposed to fear them because of that. Like, they can’t even make NIGHT VISION goggles domestically for crying out loud.
I have yet to see that body armor they displayed back then future soldier.
Russian’s own Maus fail. A promising sign.
Did he try giving him some tea? or opening a window? Or .. or.. talking about NUKES?
The entire Russia military industry is nothing but smoke and mirrors. The only thing they can produce, that actually works, the what was left from the Soviet Union.
Asimovs other rule – beware of 3rd storey windows
The part of breaking down is the key you short-sided people! The more pieces apart the harder for the drones to find a target, it confuses the drone operator. Geez!
Russia had this technology back in the winter war with the Tele-tanks, 100 years later and they still can’t get it to work right.
