Unemployment Benefit Cuts: Plans to cap unemployment benefits at two years for most jobseekers could leave over 184,000 people without support, with more than 25,000 losing benefits immediately in 2026.
Early Retirement Restrictions: Proposals to limit early retirement options are seen as unfair and harmful to working people, especially those with lower incomes.
Wage Indexation Freeze: The government’s suggestion to freeze automatic wage indexations could impact the purchasing power of most Belgian households, raising concerns among trade unions.
Expansion of Flexi-Jobs: The planned expansion of flexi-jobs is viewed as a threat to job security and workers’ rights.
Reduced Pay for Night Work: Proposed reductions in pay for night work are seen as detrimental to workers, particularly those in essential services.

I’m not informed enough about the rest but I really don’t get the complaints about military spending. Do they want us to just rely on the USA for defence for eternity? Seems like a horrible idea.
Not accepting and respecting the elections results seems as a pretty authoritarian mentality to me.
People against retirement at 67 are stupid or above 40 without children

Eliminating lifelong unemployment benefits to healthy people is GOOD!!!!! Why should my taxes pay for the lifelong holiday of well over 100,000 people???

It baffles me that the politicians still won’t cut costs on themselves. Just get 1 federal government and cut out all the rest. Will already be a big money saver.

Ok, I might not be Belgian, but why are Belgians protesting against a government of a US state?
Any centre-right poster who agrees that Belgium needs to tighten their finances should still protest the Arizona and regional/community governments : the accounting methods justifying the savings leave much to be desired. That anecdote about how the CVO price rises were forecasted to end up with a 100% re-inscription rate, thus earning the government more money, shows you that the N-VA thinks it is really clever but can’t understand the 1rst lesson economics concept that is a demand curve. They’re also going to trigger a massive savings spree with the “brutal measures” rhetoric which will leave an artificial demand shock not seen since 2008 (Covid is a bit of an exception, because demand was actually too high relative to a supply disruption and led to inflation). No centre-right person should take this government seriously, they should be swelling the ranks of this protest.
