  1. I thought they had to travel that way through certain waters, its intentionally surfaced?

  2. What tool did he use to capture the submarine? chown from the Captain’s console?

  3. This is just a picture of a submarine, no context, no further information.

You could have posted this picture with a caption saying “North Korean marines getting ready to disembark and invade Bermuda” just the same

  4. Captures as in photographs, not captures as in commandeers.

  5. You’re all asking stupid questions like “how do we know it’s russian”, “where’s the source”, etc.

The real question is where is the fisherman and how do we know he’s Norwegian?

  6. This happened on Monday, it was observed by Norwegian fishermen who were in Danish waters, heading back to Norway.

It’s assumed to be the same Russian sub that is known to be limping back home from the Mediterranean, currently followed by the Swedish coast guard. The fishermen used binoculars and thought the flag looked like the one of the Russian navy.

  7. That’s all they can do, send out their ancient barely-running submarines to “scare” the EU since they are clearly the laughing stock of the world when it comes to “Great Powers”.

  8. How can the fishermen tell the difference between a Russian and Norwegian Submarine?

  9. If you bring a warship into another country without notifying that country that you are bringing a WARSHIP into their territory that’s bad.

    Surprise warship = bad news.

  10. Thank god for him. I thought NATO would know this…but the fisherman saved the day . Hahaha

  11. Can the Russian navy take any more embarrassing Ls?

Everything that happened leading up to and including the Battle of Tsushima. Losing a naval battle on Lake Baikal to a landlocked country that didn’t exist yet, and their Black Sea flagship to an Ukraine with no navy. That circular ship that span around uncontrollably when guns fired. The Kursk. Now this.

  12. If it were doing something illegal it wouldn’t be at the surface flying a flag.

  13. Image taken through ordinary fisherman’s 155mm artillery gun for personal usage.

  14. They’ve done this forever. To the point where my service in the Norwegian army 20 years ago was literally driving around an island up north looking through binoculars to see if I could spot any

  15. I’m sure they’ll get another stern warning like when they cut off/blew up power lines and oil infrastructure. That will show them.

  16. They wanted to be seen

    MiGs over Estonia

    Drones over Poland and Romania

    Subs surface in Norway

    Just more weak Russian provocation

    They must be getting desperate

  17. Love how they have to stay on the surface because their subs are so shit

  18. In a way it’s probably safer for Russian vessels to spread into NATO water than be too close to home and Ukraine.

  19. Russians just hate peace. They can’t take it.

  20. How far from shore are they? As long as theyre >12 nautical miles from the baseline, they’re legally allowed to pass through there per UNCLOS.

  21. I know you’re supposed to receive permission to enter a certain nation’s waters but surely the US does this all the time without asking?

  22. Just secure it with a line and tow it to the nearest scrap yard.

  23. I’m curious, is “illegal” just used for anything anyone disagrees with now?

  24. As long as there’s only deep concerns Russian military submarines have nothing to fear. Go on, scare war criminals with your grave concerns.

  25. Never underestimate the power of Nordic fishermen. The Icelandic ones beat us

  26. Just another day of accidentally starting an international incident
