West Ham’s miserable start to the season has left them deep in trouble, sitting 19th in the Premier League table.

Nuno Espirito Santo has shown small signs of progress since arriving, but the Portuguese coach knows results — and reinforcements — are needed fast if the Hammers are to climb clear of danger.

With big names like Ivan Toney and Christian Pulisic already linked, attention has now turned to a more realistic but equally exciting target — a “distinguished” Belgium international who could add much-needed control to midfield.

According to TEAMtalk, West Ham are one of three Premier League clubs tracking Rangers and Belgium midfielder Nicolas Raskin ahead of January.

The 24-year-old joined Rangers from Standard Liège in 2023 for around £2 million and has since become one of the most highly regarded midfielders in Scotland. Renowned for his composure and passing quality, Raskin has also broken into the Belgium national team setup.

His future at Ibrox remains uncertain after being sidelined by former boss Russell Martin earlier this season.

With Rangers open to selling for around £20–25 million, West Ham are thought to be weighing up a move, viewing him as a potential upgrade in midfield.

London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace are also reported to be interested.

Given his age, pedigree, and technical ability, Raskin could prove a smart signing for the Hammers — though they’ll face competition and a hefty price tag if they want to bring him to London in January.
