The Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI) has signed a seven-year framework agreement with AS Maru Metall and MDSC Systems OÜ to supply mobile modular hospitals and units to the Estonian and Lithuanian Defence Forces. The contract is valued at €150 million and covers ongoing orders, upgrades, maintenance, repairs, and training.

ECDI’s Strategic Category Manager for Soldier Equipment and Life Support, Maia Prunt, said, “At the beginning of October, we placed an order for the design and construction of one mobile modular hospital for the 2nd Infantry Brigade.” She noted that only the 1st Infantry Brigade currently has such a facility, and the aim is for both brigades to have “modern mobile military medical facilities capable of providing professional medical care during exercises, as well as in emergencies and crisis situations.”

The new hospital is expected to be completed in 2026 and will support emergency medicine, primary surgery, intensive care, nursing, and outpatient services. It will also manage medical logistics, including the supply of sterile surgical materials and medical oxygen, which can be produced on-site.

Designed to operate independently, the hospital will generate its own electricity and clean water and include a sanitation module with toilets and showers. The system meets modern standards and will be equipped with advanced medical technology.

MDSC Systems OÜ brings over a decade of experience in deployable modular hospitals, with proven use in Ukraine and during the COVID-19 pandemic in Estonia. Kristjan Kamdron, Member of the Management Board at MDSC Systems OÜ, said, “This is the largest contract ever signed by our company, and it demonstrates strong mutual trust.” He also confirmed the company has recently moved production to a new energy-efficient site in Männiku, Tallinn.
