The Central and Eastern European Film Festival kicks into full gear this week with a packed programme of screenings, concerts, and parallel cultural events. Check out our preview for all the information.

To celebrate 60 years of Korea-EU relations, this 4th edition of the Korean Culture Day will offer traditional food, music, and art – all in one place, and free to access.

Arts and culture
Anna Krieps’ signature technique – hand-embroidered photographs – will be displayed to great effect at Subtile Showroom-Gallery for the next two weeks, in which her sister Vicky will serve as a visual identity.

South African artist Brett Bailey reimagines Goethe’s Faust II through the lens of contemporary geopolitics in this theatrical piece, presented in both English and German. Note that there will also be a post-show Q&A on Friday, 17 October.

Musical offerings
Based on an episode from the Indian epic Mahabharata, this 1929 silent movie will be accompanied by live music at Philharmonie, as performed by members of the Luxembourg Philharmonic and conducted by Ellie Slorach.

See talented bands cover iconic tracks by your favourite rock bands. There’ll be dedicated concerts for fans of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, and Nirvana – in other words, all night long.

After work & weekend fun
For those that miss the era of frosted tips and ultra-wide jeans, this Saturday night party might be the ticket. Dance to decade-appropriate tunes and don your weirdest sunglasses for this semi-regular time travel party.

Directed by the local, 17 year-old filmmaker Joé Freilinger, this Luxembourgish-language movie (with English subtitles) concerns a family who think their problems solved when they win the lottery – only for things to get a lot more complicated.

Plan ahead
Ahead of the dark and wet months, ACL are offering free tyre and lighting checks for Luxembourg’s drivers. No appointments needed and totally free of charge, the campaign’s aim is to increase road safety in the Grand Duchy.
