Cannot trust the BBC to report actual facts so I doubt it was that high a percentage.
It’ll never be while its funded by the licence fee (which in reality is a tax)
> A majority of respondents, 91%, said it is important to be independent from the government of the day.
> In Scotland, 83% of respondents said it is important that the BBC’s core mission to inform, educate and entertain continues.
Fancy reposting this?
It is. It’s why repeated governments of all parties, in Edinburgh and London, have tried to put pressure on it and attacked it for ‘disagreeing’ with them.
Meanwhile no-one complains at GB News being backed by Reform😂😂😂
The thing is, news barons would swoop in, buy majority shares and they would spin the same right wing bullshit that the majority of them already do.
The BBC should be shut down, it’s just another government gaslighting tool! Can’t trust any of the media to tell the facts these days!
Doesn’t matter what Scots believe or want – the future of the BBC will be decided by Westminster.
The BBC can never be independent of government as long as government has the power to control it’s funding. It’s that simple. The BBC is not independent.
I thought we didn’t like privatisation
Gov should pay for its own propaganda department
coming from scottish pravda this is just hilarious
Never gonna happen. Its the governments main propaganda tool.
I’m of the “it should be funded by public funds, but not subject to direct political interference”
Like, the BBC provides a lot of quality content, that has value beyond its cultural aspect
But the head of the BBC should not be appointed by the government (and before anyone does an “well, actually…” technically it’s the king, but it’s “from advice” of the secretary of state)
TIL the BBC is British, I always thought it was Israeli based on their coverage.
They should be, and then add adverts and then they can scrap the TV licence.
