Ukrainian MFA spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi condemned a viral video showing a Russian-speaking man threatening a Ukrainian family on a train in Switzerland. Tykhyi called the incident “unacceptable hate speech” and said that Ukraine had contacted Swiss law enforcement to request a full investigation. My twin is on the spectrum. When I got married 30 years ago my parents were afraid that my brother would be left “all alone” so they pretty much arranged a marriage for him in Russia to a girl 10 years younger than he was. She spoke no English and I honestly feel that the language difference helped hide some of his quirks that another girl might have picked up on. In fact, I think this is what all involved were hoping for.
I thought it was a terrible idea, and that ended in his getting married anyway, over in Russia. I did not attend and we now haven’t spoken for decades. His kids have all grown up Russian and have never visited the US. even though they technically should have had dual citizenship. From what I understand, they have all been brought up to hate everything American.
I don’t know what another solution might have been, but I don’t think I’ll ever forgive my parents for solving the problem that way. I have almost violent feelings about the whole thing when I see monsters like this asshole. My brother was once one of the nicest people you’d ever meet, and they threw him in with orcs like this one.
