Although it is not known what is going on behind closed doors, Princess Eugenie, 35, didn’t post anything for Sarah’s birthday on Instagram as a result of this recent situation.

The princess has previously marked Sarah’s big day on social media, including last year when she shared a series of photographs of the Duchess, including never-before-seen photos of Sarah and her grandsons, August and Ernest.

The caption for Eugenie’s 2024 birthday post read: “Happy birthday to my beautiful mumma. So proud of the Grannie you are, the mum you are and the woman you are.

“You’re an inspiration and our endless chats bring me so much happiness and incredible support.”

The Duchess herself did also not take to social media to mark her special day yesterday – something she did last year.

In her own 2024 birthday post, she had written: “Thank you for all of your wonderful birthday wishes! I’m feeling incredibly grateful to be here every day, to smell the flowers, to read and write, and to be able to see my daughters and my grandchildren.

“It has been an extraordinary, full year – a year of recovery and of growth – and I just feel so lucky. Thank you again to all of you who made it so and who took the time to send me birthday wishes.”

It is not known how Sarah decided to spend her big day, with the Duchess having kept a low profile over the last few weeks since the scandal broke.
