4chan faces UK ban after refusing to pay ‘stupid’ fine

1. Even though I think the UK won’t become a worse place without 4chan its fucking insane that they are restricting internet use the way they are doing right now. This type of censorship shouldn’t be allowed and letting private companies or random organizations store sensitive data is braindead and I hope some politicians get fucked in the eventual data breaches so they might actually do something about it. But let’s be real politicians probably don’t need to comply with the checks for websites like wikipedia(which also requires verification) because of the inherent security risks

2. 4chan is fucking horrid, and I feel bad for anyone stuck on there, and seeing someone actually put 4chan to task for its role in the alt-right pipeline and the lone wolf machine that’s been part of why so many of my country’s schools are getting shot up. And seeing that should make me feel amazing.

   This does not feel like that, though. This feels like a program designed to force the few truly anonymous places left to install surveillance, watch, and listen, which, while being important to preventing what 4chan does, feels *so authoritarian*. If you don’t want your small kids on the internet, don’t give them a phone at age 6.

3. I usually hate 4chan but I have a lot of respect for whoever is behind these actions on their end. Force the UK to pony up and admit that they’re going full Chinese surveillance state. Now giving back Hong Kong makes sense, they’re preparing to give themselves next.

4. 4chan is toxic, bit tiny. Sites like Twitter are far worse when it comes to spreading radiczlization. Of course, the government is doing this because they love censorship and want to preserve their own narrative. It is disgusting seeing the Labour under Chairman Starmer proudly take Britain down the path of online censorship.

5. Although 5-10% of 4chan is tolerable and fine to read. Unfortunately 90% is full of some creeps, incels and weirdos. Still, I disagree with any site doing these age verifications, it’s clearly not about protection of any children.

   Tony Blair that continues to push this rubbish forward has met with Epstein anyway and never opposed him when he was alive. It shows how ridiculous and how stupid they think we are. It’s clearly about collecting private info and selling it to some scammers/3rd parties, in excuse of a “data leak”. Just what happened in Discord the other day
