Lakshya Sen and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, India’s top men’s doubles duo, sailed into the quarter-finals of their respective events at the Denmark Open 2025 badminton tournament in Odense on Thursday.

Competing at the Jyske Bank Arena, world No. 21 Lakshya Sen upset local favourite and Anders Antonsen, second in the men’s singles badminton rankings, by a 21-13, 21-14 scoreline in 53 minutes to cruise into the quarters.

After conceding the first two points in the first game, Lakshya Sen got on the scoreboard and never looked back as he dominated second-seeded Anders Antonsen to comfortably clinch the opener.

Anders Antonsen managed to keep pace with Lakshya Sen at the start of the second game, but the Paris 2024 semi-finalist seized control after the interval, winning 10 of the final 15 points to bag the contest.

This was Lakshya Sen’s third win in eight matches against Anders Antonsen.

In the men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty also progressed to the semi-finals after a 21-19, 21-17 win over Chinese Taipei’s Lee Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan.

After an even start, Satwik-Chirag raised their game to take an 11-7 lead at the mid-game break.

Despite a fightback from Lee Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty managed to clinch the opener after converting their second game point.

The second game saw the Chinese Taipei pair trail 11-10 at the interval before the Indian badminton players stepped on the gas to close out the contest and move into the quarter-finals.

Satwik-Chirag have dominated Lee Jhe-huei-Yang Po-hsuan in the past with Thursday’s win extending their head-to-head record against the Chinese Taipei duo to 5-0.

Meanwhile, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto advanced to the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles after receiving a walkover in their round of 16 match.
