Prince William could face a “tough” decision over his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, a royal expert has said. While he is not yet King, the Prince of Wales is reportedly set to take on stricter measures with his uncle Prince Andrew when it comes to his time on the throne.
This is as a result of the Duke of York being involved in numerous scandals owing to his previous association with the late convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. While Andrew is no longer a working royal, and rarely appears at royal events, it is believed that William will be stricter on his attendance at royal events, even private ones, than King Charles has been.
This will no doubt be tough for Prince William, 43, as it could upset his cousins Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, who are Prince Andrew’s daughters.
Speaking to The Mirror, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said: “Banishing or humiliating Andrew and Fergie would cause the sisters further hurt. And that’s a tough nut for William to crack.”
This could make the decision on how to address the Andrew situation hard for William, just as it has been for the King.
However, Ms Bond believes the King is more accepting of Andrew as a result of them being brothers, and the King’s desire for “harmony” and to avoid confrontation.
