  1. Fucking do it or stop talking about it. You don’t get points in my book for considering things.

  2. Andrew is *never* giving up that title voluntarily, and I don’t believe Charles seriously thinks he will.

Strip it and get on with it. It just reads like he’s essentially hoping to pull an Elizabeth II and dither/delay long enough that the issue passes to William’s reign and someone else will have to be the one to take the flak.

ETA: damn, glad to be proved wrong!

  3. Finally, goodness. It’ll be his first strong move as King.

  4. He needs to do this. It will take up valuable parliamentary time…pfffft who cares, they waste time every day, at least it would be an actual consequence. And before anyone says “but what about jail” I actually think Andrew might consider losing his title and position in society to be worse than jail.

  5. They have been considering stripping him of his royal title and downsizing his residence since many years. Nothing ever happens, so it’s a moot point.

  6. its annoying because the royal family has known ALL of this the entire time but only after the public admonishes them, they want to do something about it??

  7. Utterly speculative article.

‘He’s considering all options – here are some options’

Edited to add: this post didn’t age well!!

  8. You couldn’t bother to take your son’s call, but found the time to not do anything about Andrew.

At this point it doesn’t matter. It looks weak when he has been seen multiple times engaging with the family at events. It’s an empty gesture.

  9. Good! He shouldn’t have a title or any other privileges

  10. I wonder how many times they’re going to brief that they might maybe do something, maybe soon, before people realize that nothing is going to happen. Charles and William aren’t going to do anything about Andrew. If they wanted to, they would have done it years ago. They don’t think being a corrupt (alleged) child rapist is that big of a deal. Nothing will change unless there is extreme public backlash that forces them to act.

There was [a good article](https://archive.ph/mctTa) about how people like Andrew are exactly what the British monarchy produces, and Andrew’s financial corruption is not all that dissimilar to Charles’s cash for access scandals. Andrew is not some foreign outsider with incompatible views like Meghan. Andrew is a peer, he was raised with them, and is in their boat. He exploits his privileges the way it was “meant” to be exploited. And that’s why they won’t truly disavow him. It’s not an Andrew problem, it’s a corrupt institution problem.

  11. don’t hold your breath

  12. King Felipe of Spain removed his sister’s ducal title when Cristina was mired in scandal. King Charles should do the same with his scandal-enmeshed sibling.

  13. He says this every time Prince Andrew is in the news because he is an alleged nonce. Nothing ever happens.

  14. Unfortunately Charles can’t remove them just by his self his peerage requires an act of parliament 😢
