Iran officially announced the end of all restrictions on its nuclear program on October 18, 2025, as the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) expired after a decade. In a statement carried by the Times of Israel and confirmed by Iranian officials, Tehran declared that “all provisions, including restrictions on the Iranian nuclear program and related mechanisms, are considered terminated.” Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed that with the expiration of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, “Iran will remain bound solely to its rights and obligations under the NPT,” meaning the country now faces no formal limits on nuclear enrichment, centrifuge installation, or uranium stockpiling.
