Facebook: A space where low intelligence opinions are heavily revered and any common sense is lost
There probably is a reasonable critique of CCGC engaging with a US-driven event that’s not really that relevant to the experience of black people in Coleraine, but it is absolutely nowhere near those comments.
It’s strange to see “are heroes laying on streets“ and it’s not a question!
I’m so ashamed to be from the same place as these racist.
Making a big deal over lighting a building. Go get a fuckin hobby.
It’s lit up with normal lights the rest of the year but they aren’t crying about the cost then
Wonder if the same people are outraged about Gordon Lyons announcing [£250,000](https://www.irishnews.com/news/northern-ireland/gordon-lyons-announces-250k-to-celebrate-anniversary-of-us-independence-4VKXYGUHYJHR7JVPPFSYFXVOKE/) to be wasted on celebrating ….fucking American Independence from Britain. With the the money going to “groups with links to the U.S”
Is there a worse argument than a bit of whataboutery
i hate the whole “who’s paying for this??” thing as if it’s bankrupting the council to light a building up. it’s such a fake concern.
I work for a Council, and I’m actually really curious now what the supposedly exorbitant cost of these Illuminations actually is: because as far as I know, it’s mostly admin work to arrange them, and then a staff member fitting a filter to some lights that are left on overnight and switched off again the next morning…
People have become so comfortable with being openly racist, makes me sick.
So the Chief Executive Officer of North West Migrants Forum is the grifter Lilian Seenoi Barr who ironically had to leave Kenya because she was under threat as she was trying to promote women’s rights. And she’s now in Northern Ireland with the goal;
“Our vision is to change lives and transform the narratives around black and minoritised communities through tackling prejudice and stereotypes, normalising access to services and promoting respect, fairness, equality and success.”
Funny she didn’t get much respect, fairness equality or success in Kenya but was able to become mayor of Derry here.
Let’s have Human History Month and then we can shut this shit down.
All the gammon names saying their gammon shite
Unfortunately racism is more normalised in the CCG area than almost anywhere I’ve been, and I’ve been around a few places. It suggests to me that, for the sake of the small black population of the area and to inject some anti-racists sentiment more generally, a few BHM events would not go a miss.
You’re best not reading the comments on literally any Facebook post, and in fact the wisest option is to delete your account entirely
It’s just a gathering place for the most wilfully pig-ignorant cunts alive and has been for many years now
My favourite is the “When exactly is White Pride moth, and Heterosexual Pride Month” because like, those are literally every other fucking month of the year you fucking cretin.
What is it with people who spell ‘our’ as ‘are’? Honestly it baffles me.
“wHeNs WhItE hIsTrY mOnF??!!1111”.
Cause it’s absolutely pointless
Ireland doesn’t have a deep historical connection to African slavery, either as slavers or as a source of enslaved people in the transatlantic trade. Ireland was colonized and oppressed itself, not a colonial power.
In fact, Irish people were taken and enslaved in Africa and the Arab world during the 16th–18th centuries.
Celebrating “Black History Month” is totally performative. There’s no genuine historical link here. Black people have no historical roots in Ireland as slaves or otherwise. It is the cringiest form of virtue signaling.
