The Piedmont Triad Business Collaborative – formerly known as Piedmont Triad MED Week – is a regional initiative that’s “committed to the growth, sustainability and long-term success of small businesses in the Triad.”

The organization offers workshops, networking, recognition and year-round support to entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Later this month, the Guilford County Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department will join the Piedmont Triad Business Collaborative and a bunch of community partners for “2025 Piedmont Triad Business Collaborative Week.”

That county department was formerly known as the Guilford County Minority- and Women-Business Enterprise Department, but the county changed its name earlier this year after President Donand Trump’s administration began cutting money to federal programs that supported MWBE efforts or efforts to increase diversity or inclusion.  The county department essentially stayed the same but changed its name in order to avoid getting noticed in that regard.

So, this year, look for the language associated with the week to be more about supporting small businesses in the Triad.

The annual event runs this year from Monday, Oct. 27, through Sunday, Nov. 2, and, during that time, will be presenting a series of region-wide events that are designed to “empower small businesses, facilitate networking, and spotlight economic opportunity across the Triad.”

This year’s theme is “Empowering Small Businesses. Driving Economic Growth.”

To that end, during Business Collaborative Week, the presenters will offer workshops, networking opportunities, awards, community engagement sessions, and business showcases – bringing together entrepreneurs, business leaders, service providers and the public.
