Funny how we keep on hearing about how high youth unemployment is in Canada, but it’s one of the lowest in the world and lower than it was in 1995.
[historical data](https://www.statista.com/statistics/811929/youth-unemployment-rate-in-canada/)
[Stats Canada](https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/11-630-x/11-630-x2017004-eng.htm)
>Youth unemployment always higher
Unemployment rate shouldn’t be compared between countries without the context of employment rate.
New Zealand mentioned! 😭
Our Prime Minister brags about being “wealthy and sorted”, says our people are “whiney”, makes life increasingly difficult for poor people then tells them they just need to stop complaining and work harder. Now 18-19 year olds aren’t allowed to go on the jobseekers benefit (whilst desperately looking for jobs that don’t exist) and are forced to rely on their parents who already can’t make ends meet. PM tells everyone that you have to move to where the jobs are… so 200 New Zealanders per day move to Australia. Yay!
Labor laws stiffer employment
Governments manipulating data, including collection methods, definitions, and blatantly changing numbers / lying could be relevant. Happens A LOT more in under developed / developing countries. I’m Turkish. Youth unemployment here is much above 20%. But you won’t find the correct data about it. It would make our supreme leader look incompetent, which is completely unacceptable, as he is way above and beyond us mortals. Similarly, inflation in Turkey has been 100+% for years, but official numbers show it around 40%.
I can’t believe that a 13% youth unemployment rate would put a country in the best ten. Things aren’t going great for youth in Canada.
Sorry, I’m going to downvote this just for the use of “AI”. I really think this sub needs to update its rules to include any “automagic” visualizations. The [julius.ai](http://julius.ai) website says “it analyzes the data for you” which I feel is contrary to the spirit of this sub. Part of creating effective visualizations is *analyzing* the data as you visualize it. If you outsource that part to an AI, then you’re not understanding your data.
What did those countries all do to fill all the open posItions that the young would have typically filled 🤔?
Japan and Israel are doing pretty good being the only developed countries with very low unemployment rates
My kids cant get a job in canada as the gov flooding the market with cheap indian labour it’s disgusting
Anyone know why these countries have such high unemployment rates? These seem like otherwise fairly functional states.
Its reaching 15% in Canada as our politicians keep bringing in temporary workers.
At the end of the day though, anyone in Australia who wants a job (and isnt carrying an obvious load of personal issues) can get a job easily in this country.
I refuse to accept that inward migration to any country is necessary to economically balance an aging society when youth unemployment is so high.
