German American Social Club in Cape Coral hosts 40th Oktoberfest
The 40th annual Oktoberfest hosted by the German American Social Club in Cape Coral offers a taste of German culture with food, music, and activities for all ages
The 40th annual Oktoberfest in Cape Coral, hosted by the German American Social Club, is celebrating German culture with food, music, and activities for all ages.Everywhere you look, you can find a stand serving up cold glasses of beer. Wolf Pech said the president of the GASC says there is something for everyone to enjoy, “There is no favorite part. Everything is good. Everybody should find something. Make new friends and have fun.”Michael Dellacamera, who works in one of the kitchens, described some of the food offerings, saying, “We have smoked brat, homemade potato salad and sauerkraut. And that all goes on to our platters. We make it right here on the grill.” On top of delicious German dishes, you can also find yummy German treats like strudels and black forest cakes to satisfy your sweet tooth.Sara Skorak, who joined the club back in 2020, was crowned this year’s Ms. Oktoberfest. She says the best part of the whole fest is the live bands, some of which traveled in all the way from Germany. “There’s lots of people singing and dancing, and it’s just it’s such a great vibe, and that’s that’s what I love the most.”John Grant, who was attending Oktoberfest, simply stated his favorite part of the festival: “the beer, tell you the truth.” Next weekend is the last opportunity to enjoy Oktoberfest this year, with tickets available online or at the door.
