Extra devastated because visiting these was a highlight for me in both Louvre visits and I’m so sad for every future generation that won’t have that opportunity
They theives dropped the crown! Sadly this will be taken apart and sold!
This story makes me so sad.
How the hell does this happen in the age of so much tech???? These are priceless national treasures, even stepping too close to them should have triggered alarms.
Heartbreaking.
Where did the French steal those jewels from?
Ugh, that pearl tiara is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in person. Seems like they only raided a couple of cases since the blue and green jewels were all in the same case, and the crown, bow, and pearl tiara were in another.
I don’t see the green tiara that matches that green necklace in the photo set. A fortunate miss if so.
Crown Jewels that don’t get worn are pointless in my opinion so I don’t see this as a great tragedy but obviously I would prefer they be auctioned off for charity rather than stolen.
They’ve probably already started taking them apart. Such a shame.
At least it wasn’t irreplaceable art works.
I imagine they were a commissioned theft by a rich emerati or Russian. Not to fence.
Well, someone feels like a pretty princess looking in the mirror right now!
I’ll be on the look out !
So pretty! The emeralds are my favorite but all of them are amazing.
Such a crazy situation!
Do we think it was an inside job as the whole thing only took 7 minutes?
Honestly, good. Those jewels were probably mined by enslaved people under the most terrible conditions and then stolen from whatever country. It’s all vulgar.
Wow this is some movie level super villain energy.
How did they get these pictures if they were stolen?
