A strong symbol for the country’s digital ecosystem, the first promotion of 42 Luxembourg has just completed its course. Three years after the school was launched, 32 students received their certification at a ceremony held on 17 October at the Digital Learning Hub in Belval. The programme, based on collaboration, autonomy and solving concrete projects, marks a new stage in training for digital professions.
The Minister for National Education, Children and Youth, , praised the impact of the 42 model in transforming skills in Luxembourg: “The evolution of the digital world offers us new opportunities, but it also poses new challenges. Accessible, flexible and forward-looking training, such as the one you have successfully concluded, is an important element in developing the skills we need for responsible use of modern technologies.”
As part of the global 42 network, which has 54 campuses in 31 countries and more than 21,000 students, the Belval school is based on an innovative teaching method: with no teachers, no formal programme and free of charge, it is open to everyone aged 18 and over. Learning is based on peer-learning, cooperation and experimentation, in a setting that is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Before joining the course, each candidate must pass an essential stage: the “swimming pool”, a month of intensive immersion that assesses motivation and adaptability. Since 2022, seven pools have been organised in Luxembourg; the eighth will start on 24 November 2025, with registration open on .
Currently, 300 students are following the 42 Luxembourg core curriculum, a two-year phase focusing on programming, algorithms, cybersecurity and project management. All the graduates of this first class have already found a job, obtained a promise of employment or are continuing their specialisation – a success that confirms the relevance of the 42 model in meeting the needs of a Luxembourg market in search of technological talent.
