Good way to steal good students that have been educated by someone else’s pocket. If they integrate and find good opportunities, they stay. If they fuck up, they go back. And in any case, more students for universities to charge money to in one way or another.
To be fair, my Erasmus exchange had a lot of Turkish students, who were from a different program but were considered by all as Erasmus, and they were greatest bunch to hang around with (just that the drama between them was quite crazy).
As for the rest, Egyptians and Lebanese are cool, Tunisians are the chillest blokes you could ever find, Algerians are a bit too dramatic just like the Italians, they’re all great Erasmus company. The Morrocans though tend to be a bit socially awkward and stuck-up so I don’t know. The others, I don’t know them well enough.

Developing states will use this as a way of getting access to the EU. They will be bribing and all kinds of shit going. Are there people who would like to come and study? Yes. But can they really compete with the onslaught of people who just want to get into the EU?
I mean, just look at the amount of Indians who “come to study”, drop out and now deliver food to your door.
You risk having states drop out of Erasmus.
