    In a post on Truth Social, the US president wrote that unnamed leaders in the region had told him “explicitly and strongly” that they would act against the militant group “if they continue to act badly”.

    “There is still hope that Hamas will do what is right. If they do not, an end to Hamas will be FAST, FURIOUS, & BRUTAL! I would like to thank all of those countries that called to help,” he wrote.

  2. This is probably the best path forward (if Hamas doesn’t accede to disarmament/relinquishing control).

    But I’m very skeptical neighboring Arab countries are willing to lose troops fighting Hamas. I think many oppose Hamas and have closer ties with Israel (at the state level, not at the street level) – but that’s a hard sell.

  5. A clear and transparent bluff from a president who doesn’t have the cards. The only credible threat would be saying hes telling Israel to withdraw completely so he can send in the Marines, all US spec forces and 2 carrier groups with very loose rules of engagement to turn it into Fallujah/Grozny/Mariupol without hindrance.

    This is just going to be ignored. Like pretty much all Trumps bombastic threats and deadlines that end up just being hot air.

  7. The US is working with Taliban in Afghanistan and with Al Qaeda in Syria. He already said last week what’s going to happen. Hamas is going to police the territory, even if they have to name it something else. And Israel will just bomb whatever aspect of that they prefer periodically as well as turn on and off the food at will.

    All and all we’re heading back to the pre-Oct 7 arrangement, just with way less buildings and people in Gaza.
