  1. To be entirely fair, the price of beef can’t jump 60% and just expect us to be a captured market that’s unwilling to look elsewhere.

Last year I saw the generic 80/20 ground hamburger typically priced at $5/lb. Sometimes even less with the 3lb deals, like $4/lb.

Today it’s $8/lb, with the 93/7 going up to $11/lb.

But I agree we’d be better served by the President looking at long term solutions for farmers in the US, *in addition to* short-term trade incentives to address the current recent jump in prices.

Though his plan seems unclear, who’s the “we” in “We would buy some beef from Argentina”? Is it Kroger, Amazon and the like, operating under a short-term incentive that reduces import costs and restrictions for processed beef, the US government, farmers buying cows for their herds? It’s all very vague.

  2. >”Trump set us up and sold us out,” he told Newsweek.

That also happened in his first term, and farmers/ranchers still voted for Trump in his second term. I don’t feel bad for the farmer.
