No this is from increases globalization, They come aboard on ships and planes and from the backpacks of travellers. Then these creatures make their way into houses and garages and wait for the summer. The winters in iceland are still very cold and this has nothing to do with global warming.
With mosquitos comes malaria and birds like puffins that have no natural resistance will almost certainly see their populations get decimated as we saw with Hawaiian birds when we introduced mosquitos.
Fun fact, some zoos limit the amount of time their penguins are allowed outside during certain parts of the year because if they get bit my a mosquito with malaria, they’re almost guaranteed to die due to their lack of resistance.
Additional fun fact, malaria is a protist, not a bacteria or virus, meaning conventional medicine doesn’t work for it, and it’s so deadly humans have evolved sickle cell to deal with it.
