Greece to hold European Parliamentary Technology Assessment presidency in 2026

Greece has assumed the annual presidency of the European Parliamentary Technology Assessment (EPTA) for 2026, Deputy and chairman of the Special Permanent Committee on Research and Technology Stratos Simopoulos informed Parliament President Nikitas Kaklamanis on Thursday.

EPTA members advise their parliaments on issues such as nanotechnology, brain research, mobility pricing and future energy systems. The organization’s projects use various methods and draw on insights from citizen panels, stakeholders, workshops and leading experts, according to EPTA’s official website.

Simopoulos presented Kaklamanis with EPTA’s flag, which the French presidency of 2025 handed over in Paris.

EPTA will hold two meetings in Greece in 2026: in Thessaloniki in April, and in Athens in September. [AMNA]
