It's weird that he's okay with Saudi forces in Gaza but not the Turkish forces.

Not really weird that he’s okay with Saudi forces instead of Turkish. If I recall correctly, Turkey supports Hamas as much as a NATO country can and even had a day of mourning for Haniyeh.
It’s because Turkey supports Hamas. Saudi Arabia is opposed to Hamas. They don’t trust a ally of Hamas to demilitarize them and don’t want another situation like Hezbollah where they are supposed to be demilitarized never are and then go back to shooting missiles at Israel.
Saudi Arabia being involved is not weird.
They have made massive efforts to remove or reform their own radical clerics in the last decades since 9/11, they oppose Hamas, and they are a large Arab country, and the international force must be composed of some Arabs or there will be less support by Gazans.
I hear Azerbaijan will be involved already, a Turkic country with more favorable relations with Israel.
It’s clear that Israel wants an international occupation force that will take its side in matters within Gaza. An inverted puppet, not under the control of Israel but walking in lockstep for ideological, businesses or geopolitical reasons.
The danger is the occupation of Gaza and its crimes become internationalised, that everyone will become so guilty by on the ground collaboration that they will never criticise/punish Israeli for it’s actions because it would mean admitting their own complicity.
> On March 30, 2025, while leading Eid prayers in Istanbul, Erdoğan reportedly prayed for the “destruction” of Zionist Israel. He was quoted as saying, “May Allah…destroy and devastate Zionist Israel”
Can’t IMAGINE why Israel wouldn’t want Turkey there.
Saudi Arabia is not only a totelitarian theocracy but also an Israeli ally that wants better relations with the US. Thier involvement would be bad news for the people of Gaza
Saudi Arabia’s army is a pushover that failed to achieve any of its objectives in Yemen. Turkey is one of the few states in that region with an army that’s more than just a feckless vanity project. Add to this that Saudi Arabia is a lot more likely to just roll over and give Netanyahu what he wants and it’s not that hard to see why he prefers Saudi occupation forces
