4. The ‘academic key’ guy in this comment section is a shill or a troll for reform and for Russia. He hides his comments but you can search for keywords and see him supporting Russia. On other posts/subs he claims to be left wing to try to draw people to the far right leaning position he puts across.

8. Jon Wedger is a fantasist. He claimed, without backing it up, that he identified 90 paedophiles living on London’s canals in one month based on whether they had things like Rosie and Jim dolls in their windows or other decorations. His other claims are similarly bizarre and are also unsubstatiated. The claims he has made about the history of the police, of the regulations governing London’s waterways and his contribution to the laws surrounding human trafficking are patently false. He’s run various just giving campaigns over the years to try and raise money to “uncover paedophiles.” He left the police because he had a mental breakdown, not for whistleblowing. Whatever the reality of sex trafficking in London the press need to stop giving air time to a man who has no evidence to back up his claims who is very obviously mentally ill.

11. To answer everyone’s question as to what the fuck this article is talking about, it’s old news. Councilor Susan Hall has been repeatedly asking Sadiq Khan to comment on “rape gangs” in London “which we all know exist” for months.

    The problem is that “rape gangs” is a term that you might assume meant a conspiracy to abuse young girls, but in reality, is for the most part a newspaper headline that purposefully glosses over the fact that the vast majority of child sexual abuse in the UK is not *exactly the same* as what happened in Rotherham, and is not the main focus of police operations.

    Khan has repeatedly refused to discuss this with Hall on the basis that he knows full well that she is trying to goad him, and others, into a pointless conversation which skews the narrative away from the real and valuable work the police are doing to combat child sexual abuse of all types, and towards the political football that is abuse committed solely by Asian men.

    I will say though; while it is good that Khan is steadfast in making the point that he will not make policy decisions based on tabloid politics, he does himself no favours by doing this in such a petty way. Refusing to “play politics” means a lot of people end up misreading the situation. Ultimately though, I have no doubt Khan cares about all victims of child sexual abuse, regardless of how it happens.
